Your drinking water and your health
q All drinking water contains at least some measurable level of contaminates
q Water quality varies from city to city and community to community.
q The drink-ability and safety of your water may be secure at the water supply site.
But……
q The water delivered to you goes through many different paths of storage and pipes before reaching you, the consumer.
q Water can pick up contaminates and change taste after flowing though the underground supply system
EPA Website Information
You can learn about water standards for your community water supply from the EPA Website www.epa.gov/safewater/dwinfo.htm.
The EPA prescribes regulations which limits amounts of certain contaminates in drinking water supplies
You can review test reports for your municipal systems on the EPA website:
Information on past and present violations will be displayed for your selected municipal water system.
During periodic testing of a water system for contaminates, the water system may be found marginal or may even dip to substandard levels for a short time
Until corrections in the purification processes are made, you may be drinking the marginal water.
Additional threats to your water come from possible terrorist acts against municipal water supplies, accidental dumping of waste from industrial facilities, and run off from city steets. |
